What does changemaking mean to you? How do you define what changemaking is to someone who's never heard the term?
Changemaking to me means being an active leader and member of your community that inspires others to be the change they want to see, that would improve their lives and those that are within their community. I would define changemaking as the first step in being able to not only step up as leader but to also have a community of others who support and share your same vision of active change in your environment.
Why do you consider yourself a changemaker? What issues are at the center of your changemaking work?
I consider myself a changemaker because I am committed to not only being involved in my community but being able to help support others in their aspirations, ideas and goals that they wish to accomplish. The issues that are at the center of my changemaking work is educational equality and gender equality. I believe being able to bridge the gap between those two issues are extremely important.
To be a changemaker, it is important to...
be able to lead, adapt, persevere, and listen.
What would you tell a student who would like to start their journey as a changemaker?
I would tell them to focus on the issues that they feel passionate about and don't be afraid to share your ideas with others as you never know the resources someone may have to assist you. Most importantly have fun with it.
