Jennifer Hernandez is an innovator that views every challenge as an opportunity and believes in the power of data to improve everyday life. She joined the City of Miami in 2019 as a Data Fellow and became the City’s first Senior Data Scientist. She has built-on the City’s data culture to enable informed decision-making by ensuring easy access to reliable and timely data. She spearheaded the City’s first data warehouse, and is currently working on establishing best-practices for data governance, leveraging and connecting IoT data, building pipelines for real-time business intelligence, and applying machine learning models to automate processes. She also leads the City’s Data Program with a focus to increase transparency and trust with the community.
Her past experience includes policy research, information architecture, user experience, prototyping, and project management. She has an MFA in Interactive Media from the University of Miami, a BA in International Relations and Asian Studies from Florida International University and an AA with Honors from Miami-Dade College.“
