The Nelnet Payment Plan is available to students who need an option for paying course and tuition fees/credit unit fees not covered by Financial Aid and/or other sources. There is a $40 per semester non-refundable sign-up fee for using the Nelnet Payment Plan. View our most frequently asked questions.

The maximum amount you may budget is $4500, any amount over this will be added to your down payment.

Payment plan available on October 20, 2025 and payments are processed on the 25th of each month.

No. MDC Student Financial Services will notify Nelnet and the adjustment will be made automatically. Nelnet will notify you directly about the adjustment and new payment amounts.
No. If you default or owe a balance on a Nelnet payment plan, you will not be able to sign up for a new payment plan until the first plan is paid in full. Nelnet reserves the right to refuse approval of payment plans for students with agreements that are pending payments or in default.
No, students can only have one active Nelnet plan at a time.
Yes, if the modification was made 10 business days prior to the next installment.
Yes. Nelnet reserves the right to terminate an agreement at any time if you are not current on payments or fees due to Nelnet . If Nelnet exercises this right, the student may be dropped from classes. As a result, holds are being placed on transcript requests, registration for subsequent academic terms, and graduation.
MDC Student Financial Services will notify Nelnet and the adjustment will be made automatically. Nelnet will notify you about the adjustment to the agreement terms. If you are approved for a refund and you have a current Nelnet Payment Plan, the payment plan will be adjusted for canceled/dropped classes. If you have made all scheduled payments and completed the Nelnet Payment Plan, the College will send any refund due directly to your selected refund preference with BankMobile Disbursements.
Nelnet refunds are handled by MDC. Refunds will be issued approximately 45 to 60 days after the last day of the add-and-drop period.
Payments are processed on the 20th of each month. If your payment date falls on a weekend or a banking holiday observed by the Federal Reserve, the payment will be attempted on the next business day. http://mycollegepaymentplan.com/mdc

Federal Direct Stafford Loans are low interest rate loans for eligible students to help cover the cost of higher education. Students must meet eligibility requirements and borrow directly from the U.S. Department of Education through the College.
